Catbalogan City, Philippines – The University Student Council (USC), formerly known as the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Samar State University had finally fixed its new set of officers for the school year 2017-2018 during the oath taking ceremony of the young student leaders held last March 21, 2017 at the office of the university president.
The said election was spearheaded by one party, the Sandigan Party with no counter oppositions from the other party. Under the Sandigan Party are six representatives from College of Education, with one independent, five representatives from College of Engineering, and three representatives.
With almost 14 candidates vying for electoral positions in the USC, the Sandigan Party with its president had retained its reign as Ms. Jean Ivy Pacoma, the President of the said party, was elected as the next president after Mr. Jason Ty with a total number of 456 votes during the 2017 USC Election. Meanwhile, the Vice President of the said party, the former president of the USC Mr. Jason Ty garnered 463 votes. The following were the newly USC elected officers:

The oath taking ceremony started exactly at 8: 15 in the morning with the University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso as inducting officer witnessed by the chairperson of USC Commission on Election Mr. Rolando J. Mabanan

“You need to be a role model of honesty, discipline, commitment to work, and leadership. All your decisions should not be influenced by any faculty or any other party involved in between because the voice of the students are the most important and that’s your role,” alluded President Cardoso as she gave her message after the oath taking ceremony.
Meanwhile, the newly elected President of USC Ms. Ma. Jean Ivy Pacoma also wants to extend her sincere gratitude to the students who had shown their trust on her. “I feel blessed and challenged at the same time. I am humbled by the opportunity that God had given me, to shadow His leadership to the whole studentry. But, I know the road won’t be easy. I couldn’t wait to see more of the students’ strength to magnify unity and power in overcoming these challenges at sight. The Council will work hand in hand with the students, and the administration, with leaders of will and heart for service, “asserted Ms. Pacoma.
After the ceremony, the elected officials immediately proceeded to the USC office to select new set of appointees.
