SSU-CoEd capacitates DepEd Samar teachers on Critical Content on English subjects

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Languages faculty of Samar State University-College of Education (SSU-CoEd) joined forces in spearheading the extension program “Capacity Enhancement for English and Non-English Major Teachers Teaching English in DepEd-Samar Division” which commenced on October 14 (21).

Program Leader, Dr. Alona Medalia C. Gabejan, emphasized that the extension program was proposed to address the findings of her study titled “Non_English Major Teachers’ Self-Efficacy, English Proficiency, and Pedagogical Strategies” which suggested that a regular conduct of intervention program or seminar-workshop is needed.

The Phase 1 Training dubbed as “Enhancing Content Knowledge in English” covered the topics on Basic Grammar and Correct Word Usage, Advanced Grammar and Composition, Phonetics and Pronunciation, Public Speaking, Developing Reading Skills, Technical Writing, Campus Journalism (Part 1), Campus Journalism (Part 2), Philippine Literature, World Literature, and Speech and Drama/Theater Arts.

Mrs. Lynitte D. Quenga, Mr. Jeff Harold B. Uy, Mrs. Manilyn S. Sablan, Ms. Mae Saschiel P. Montallana, Dr. Naomi P. Jabonete, Dr. Alona Medalia C. Gabejan, Ms. Ma. Mikee A. Piscos, Mrs. Janet A. Padilla, Dr. Laura B. Boller, and Mrs. Joan J. Baclay were the speakers of the training.

The Phase 1 Training will run until November (21).
