Extension Programs and Community Engagement

The University extension plans and programs are implemented by the university through its centers (CESTI, CFARRD & RCCSI) as well as by the Colleges and Campuses. These activities are aligned to the thrusts and priorities of the University which are clustered based on the areas of specialization /and offerings of the different colleges and departments. These programs, projects, and activities are also in consistent with the thrusts and priorities of the partner agencies such as the local government units in Samar, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Department of Agriculture (DA) and more importantly to the programs of the National Government.

The following are the thrusts and priorities of SSU which are elaborated on the specific programs of the R&E Centers:

  • Engineering, Science and Technology
  • Educational Research
  • Ecological/Environment Researches
  • Socio-Economic and Cultural Researches
  • Health and Medicine

  • Documentation, Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Special Projects

Extension programs, projects implemented by the University are based on the request of its stakeholders specifically by its serviced community, the industry, some government and private agencies in the region specifically in Western Samar. Some activities are also offered by the university based on the results of the results of the university-led needs assessment performed by the center and its units.
