CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—With the aim to demonstrate the evolving mission and growing scope of SSU’s Samar Island Center for Adult Education and Technology Learning (SICAETLe), the University has now renamed the former to “Center for Lifelong Learning” (CeLL) through Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution No. 4, series of 2024.

Guided by the mantra, “Life is Learning, Learning is Life,” CeLL aims to provide adult learners with high-quality education in line with the sustainable development goals; and equip them both in career success and lifetime learning. The four core programs of CeLL are centered on (1) Change Adaptation, (2) Career Development & Personal Growth, (3) Upskilling for Future Needs, and (4) Social & Global Connections.

Formerly named as “SICAETLe” in 2020 through BOR Resolution No. 81, the center initially focused on research and extension activities that primarily served the marginalized communities through provision of access to educational resources and technological advancements. This year—with a renewed dedication to its founding principles—CeLL has expanded its offerings to include sheltered workshops and trainings for working adults, community leaders, and private agencies, while consistently collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The Center for Lifelong Learning is headed by its Director, Dr. Marife M. Lacaba.
