SSU dance crew bags back-to-back championship at Dance Dayo 2023

PALO, LEYTE – Samar State University (SSU) dance crew successfully defended the title during the Dance Dayo Street Fighter Megacrew Grand Finals 2023, held at Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) Quadrangle, Palo, Leyte on December 15 (23).

The Dance Dayo competition is one of the most anticipated dance showdown organized by SPSPS which showcases the talents of dance group enthusiasts in the region.

Out of seven competing groups from different schools and colleges, namely: SSU, ACLC, LC, LNU, SLSU, SSU, UEP, and VSU, the SSU dance crew which is composed of 27 dance champs across colleges and programs of the university, grabbed one of the four spots to compete for the grand finals during the elimination round held last December 1 (23).

As champion, the students were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Php 30,000.

“Worth it po duro, tumapod utro an SSU ha amon [It is truly worth it. SSU trusted us again],” expressed Mr. Christian Aga, a fourth year BPEd student and the team’s captain.

SSU faculty and coaches Mr. Mark Angelo Bathan, Mr. Jacob Sequito, and Ms. Phoebe Anino couldn’t also contain their happiness as they witness the “champion’s dance moves” chaperoning them to the competition.

Meanwhile, Leyte Colleges secured the second place, followed by AMA Computer Learning Center (ACLC) on the third spot, and University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) on the fourth.
