LGU Catbalogan, SSU-SICGLG commence 2023 SK Mandatory Training

CATBALOGAN CITY─ Consistent with the advocacy of harnessing and promoting good governance among our young leaders, the Samar State University – Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SSU-SICGLG) partners with the City of Government of Catbalogan in the conduct of the 2023 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Mandatory Training which took off yesterday, November 6 (23) at the SSU Convention Center.

Graced by the Catbalogan City Mayor Hon. Dexter M. Uy and SSU Vice-President for Research and Extension Services Engr. Mirador G. Labrador representing the University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, the event was participated by the newly-minted SK Officials from the first batch of youth leaders hailing from Poblacion 1-13, Brgy. Canlapwas, Brgy. Mercedes, and Brgy. Muñoz.

Topics on Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features, Minutes and Resolution, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards are to be discussed by Ms. Julie Ann M. Quilatan, Atty. Roldan John P. Larios, Mr. Alfonso Alex C. Labrague, Jr., Atty. Dennis G. Cosmod, and Atty. Duane Kendall S. Lim, respectively.

Also present in the event were Ms. Janice Terrado, the Catbalogan City Local Governance Operations Officer, and Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing, the Director of the SSU-SICGLG.

The 4-day activity will run until November 9 (23) and will accommodate the remaining batches of SK Officials from the other barangays of Catbalogan City.
