SSU holds research ethics orientation for graduate students

The Office of the Research and Extension Services recently conducted a Research Ethics Orientation for the Graduate School students at the Samar State University on February 4, 2023. The orientation was organized by the Office of Institutional Human Research Ethics Committee, headed by Dr. Rheajane A. Rosales.

The event was aimed at providing the students with a comprehensive understanding of research ethics and its significance in scientific research. Dr. Rosales, along with Dr. Abigail Cabaguing and Dr. Mae V. Cañal, delivered their speeches as resource speakers, highlighting the importance of research ethics in governing the standards of conduct for scientific researchers.

During the orientation, it was emphasized that adhering to ethical principles is crucial to protect the dignity, rights, and welfare of research participants. The event was attended by Engr. Mirador G. Labrador, the Vice-President for Research and Extension Services, and Dr. Vivian L. Moya, the Executive Director for Extension Services, representing the Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Felisa E. Gomba.

The orientation was well-received by the participants, who expressed their gratitude towards the resource speakers for providing them with valuable insights on research ethics. The event is expected to promote ethical research practices among the graduate school students and contribute to the development of the scientific research community.
