SSU-SIGISDAC Research Proposals’ In-House Review 2022 concludes

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Samar State University – Samar Island GIS and Data Analytics Center (SSU-SIGISDAC) conducted its first SIGISDAC R&D Proposals’ In-House Review 2022 on March 7 (22) via hybrid setup (face-to-face for presenters, online for evaluators).

This year, nine (9) proposals which focus on the field of GIS, data analytics, machine learning, simulations, computing, hardware and software integrations, and etc. were among those presented.

Serving as evaluators were SSU Executive Director for Extension Services Engr. Mirador Labrador, Senior DOST Region VIII Science Research Specialist Dr. Ramil Uy, and University of the Philippines Visayas – Tacloban College Computer Science Professor Dr. John Paul Yusiong.

After the dusk settled, the team of Engr. Francis Jerric Candido with their proposal titled “Localized Vessel Tracking and Monitoring System for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)” garnered the recognition as the Best Proposal.

Meanwhile, Engr. Raven C. Tabiongan won as Best Presenter with his proposal titled “Integration of CNN Model to Analyze UAV-Based Collected Data from Agricultural Land Surveillance”.

The SSU-SIGISDAC is a newly established center which aims to answer questions and solve problems by analysing data within its geographic context and displaying the results on maps equipped with data analytics, data visualization, and simulation.
