CATBALOGAN CITY- In the January 2022 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Samar State University (SSU) was named at 85 among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines with scientific activity on the web.
The independent ranking was released by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research organization in Europe under the Ministry of Education with the objective of “promoting scientific research as to improve the progress of the scientific and technological level of the country which will contribute to increase the welfare of the citizens”.
From the 31,000 HEIs in the world ranked by the Lab, SSU ranked 14562 in the world with a Visibility Rank (Web Contents Impact) at 17546, Openness Rank (Top Cited Researchers) at 5973, and Excellence Rank (Top Cited Papers) at 7190.
According to the evaluating body, ranking of universities was based on “internet and web contents especially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge”.
Three (3) other State Universities from Eastern Visayas joined SSU at Top 100 as seen at https://www.webometrics.info/en/Asia/Philippines.
