CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) through the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG) spent most days of October in San Sebastian, Samar for the first wave of the Enhancement of Barangay-Based Institutions Capability for Improved Local Governance.
The activity is a series of training-workshop that aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of the barangay officials of San Sebastian and two other municipalities, Paranas and Pinabacdao.
Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing, SICGLG Director, emphasized that the training will help brgy. officials make their work performance more effective and efficient.
“Barangay officials, therefore, are the champions of localizing these targets and goals. Thus, there is a need to empower them. With the right skills and capabilities, they can serve as an effective instrument as they are the frontliners of the government at the barangay level,” she stated.
