SSU keeps alive at 2023 GIX Innovation Competition

CATBALOGAN CITY─ Samar State University’s entry titled “Fish Pond Monitoring with Alarm System” is still in the game being one of the Top 10 entries from all over the world that was shortlisted in the 2023 GIX Innovation Competition.

The Competition is organized by the University of Washington’s Global Innovation Exchange (GIX), a university-industry nexus for interdisciplinary education in technology innovation that seeks to encourage inventive and inclusive responses to global concerns.

Being the only entry from the Philippines to advance in the competition, this innovation proposed by Team DanawTech with its members Mr. Mark Cris, Mr. Seth Paul Babayson, Mr. Leander Fajardo, Mr. Harvey Tan, and Engr. Nikko Ardel Flortes allows identification and monitoring water quality of the fish ponds by introducing feasible technological innovations such as sensors and utilize them to help small pond owners keep their fish healthy.

For the University, this is already a victory being relevant to the communities it serve.
