TACLOBAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) has emerged as a leading institution in research methodologies following its successful showing at the 4th National Conference on Methodological Advances in Research (NCMAR) held in Tacloban City, Philippines on February 23-24 (23) wherein SSU faculty researchers took home two Best Paper awards, cementing their reputation for innovative thinking and cutting-edge research.
The papers, which tackled data management issues through digital innovation and rainfall-runoff harvesting for water supply using hydrologic modeling, were lauded for their practical applications and relevance to current challenges.
SSU Executive Director for Research Dr. Sherrie Ann C. Labid and SSU-Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Director Mr. Zaldy Jabicar won the Best Paper award in the Experiments and Technology Development Strand. Their paper, titled “Responding to Data Management Issues through Digital Innovation and Transaction Operation for All (DITO-All),” explored how digital innovation can help overcome data management challenges.
Additionally, SSU Research and Extension Services Vice President Dr. Ronald L. Orale and Doris Montecastro received the Best Paper award in the Simulation and Modellings Strand. Their paper, titled “Lot-Based Rainfall-Runoff Harvesting for Water Supply Using Hydrologic Engineering Center-Hydrologic Modelling System for the Catbalogan Sky City Mega Project,” demonstrated how hydrological modeling can be used to support water supply systems.
The NCMAR was initiated after several successful national and international research conferences on advanced research methodologies in the Philippines.
The recognition of SSU’s faculty researchers at the 4th NCMAR is a testament to the university’s commitment to advancing research methodologies and finding innovative solutions to various challenges.
