CATBALOGAN CITY – A team of faculty under the Center for Engineering, Science and Technology Innovations (CESTI) of Samar State University (SSU) conducted a pilot-testing of the Integrated Wireless Alarm System (IWAS), a technology that gives real-time water monitoring through engineering advances, on August 19 (21).

The deployment done in the Antiao River, Catbalogan City is an act of building up a bedrock to accentuate technology innovation undertakings that will be cause huge impacts to Samar State University’s partner communities.

The IWAS project was made possible through CESTI’s partnership with the College of Engineering (CoEng) and the Technology Business Incubator-Local Alliance of Marine-based Businesses and Food Technology (TBI-LAMBAT). The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) team also helped in the fabrication of the nodes and the transportation of these nodes to the pilot-testing area.

Engr. Nikko Ardel Floretes, IWAS Project Leader, expressed his gratitude to the University key officials for the support given to the project.

“I’m grateful for the full support of the University President, Madam Marilyn D. Cardoso, and the Vice President for Research and Extension Services, Sir Ronald L. Orale, for this research project which is soon to be an extension endeavour,” he stated.

Alongside Engr. Floretes on this project are Engr. Adrian Gadin and Engr. Francis Candido.
