SSU-CESTI seeks to further S&T, Eng’g Researches publication, conducts writeshop

CATBALOGAN CITY – For engineers, technologists, and scientists, writing and publishing is quite challenging because a significant number of research articles are rejected even before they are sent for review due to standard publication insufficiencies. Thus, the Center for Engineering, Science, and Technology Innovation (CESTI) of Samar State University (SSU) designed an activity to counter this hurdle.

The Seminar/Writeshop on Publishing Science, Engineering, and Technology Researches in a Peer-Reviewed International Scientific Indexing (ISI), Web of Science (WoS), Scopus Indexed Journals was held via online conferencing on February 24 (21). It was attended by 167 participants from SSU, Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), Leyte Normal University (LNU), Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Department of Education (DepEd), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), and Biliran Province State University (BiPSU).

Speakers from different parts of the globe gathered to mentor the participants. They were Dr. Rolly Fuentes (Professor, University of the Philippines), Dr. Lito M. Amit (Professor, Keene State College, USA), Dr. Teodoro A. Amatosa (Professor, Northwest Samar State University), and Dr. Ernesto Guades (earned his Ph.D. in the University of Queensland, Australia).

The Executive Director for Research, Dr. Sherrie Ann C. Labid, expressed the need to publish. “Publication is one of DOST’s (Department of Science and Technology) 6 Ps with Patent, Product, People Services, Places & Partnerships, and Policies that researches in Science, Technology, and Engineering may be of use,” she said.

SSU-CESTI’s organized writeshop aims to equip the researchers along publication and increase the number of publications in the field of Science, Technology, and Engineering.
