SSU furthers IP protection and tech management

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University, through the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) Office, is determined to develop and capacitate its human resource in IP protection and management, licensing of its technologies, and engaging into commercialization. With this, the project “Strengthening the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management Operation in Samar State University” was birthed and two of its activities took place on December 14 (20), the Unveiling of the IPTBM Marker and SSF Turn-Over Ceremony.

Unveiling of IPTBM Marker

One of the program’s expected outputs is the enhancement of the IP-TBM office which was commemorated with a marker in recognition of the collective initiatives of the funding/implementing agencies.

The unveiling of the IPTBM Marker was commenced with a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing among Samar State University (SSU) and its IP-TBM partners – Department of Trade and Industry-Samar (DTI-Samar), HiBes, and One Town One Product Hub (OTOP Hub) formerly known as Pasalubong Center.

The IPTBM Marker was unveiled by the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, and the IPTBDO Director, Dr. Vivian L. Moya.

SSF Turn-Over Ceremony

Samar State University qualified as a co-operator of the Shared Service Facility (SSF) which was turned over by the Provincial Director of DTI-Samar, Engr Meilou C. Macabare.

The SSF aims to provide machinery, tools, equipment and skills under a shared system which would mean ‘job generation’ for the people of Samar.

“This will pave way to greater resource generation in Samar and will encourage more Samareños to work here in our Province rather than going to other places,” Director Macabare stated.

The facilities are housed at the Food Technology Building in Samar State University and are open for public use.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was done to mark the official opening of the SSF.
