CHED: SSU is Level 3 Smart Campus

CATBALOGAN CITY – In the OCAS Memorandum released to the Presidents of State Universities and Colleges under the Office of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag, Samar State University landed on the highest classification of Campuses, Level 3 Smart Campus.

With the support of the national government through CHED, SUCs were assisted in the development of Smart campuses through investments in ICT infrastructure, acquisition of learning management systems, and other appropriate equipment for flexible learning modalities, and Samar State University (SSU) responded the ‘Level 3’ way.

Along with SSU are 10 ten other SUCs such as Bicol University, University of Southeastern Philippines, and Southern Leyte State University to name a few.

The Level 3 Smart Campus succeeded in the use of personalized, engaged, and adaptive learning through the use of emerging technologies (eg cloud, Ai, iOT, Analytics, Big Data), had the ability to collect analyze, and store complex and large amount of data used to produce value and relevant insights, showed advanced proficiency and high-level of confidence to develop, explore, and use emerging technology, sustained the organization culture and performance that promotes innovation and growth in smart learning and teaching, and recognized nationally and globally as a leader in transforming HEIs landscape through Smart Campus.

The other classifications of Smart Campuses are Level 1 Digitized Campus, Level 2a Digital Campus, and Level 2b Digitalized Campus.

A 3B funding is allotted for the SUCs to continue its efforts in helping them better the educational outcomes and facilitate operational efficiency.

SSU is now recognized as a Smart Campus, identified as “a place where next generation devices and applications create better educational outcomes and facilitate operational efficiency.”
