SSU pushes green advocacy, signs partnership

Hinabangan, Samar – Samar State University attended the Municipal Orientation and Partnership signing in the Municipality of Hinabangan last July 11 with the fancy of knotting ties with the different agencies in pushing a greener environment.

With the theme “Clean and Green Environment thru Sustainable Solid Waste Management Advocacy by the YOUth in Hinabangan, Samar”, the KALAHI-CIDSS ACT and MCT spearheaded the movement with the help of LGUs, academe and private partners.

The implementation partners include Samar State University (SSU) together with the Provincial Environment Management Office, Green CollectiV, Let’s do it Philippines, and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Butch Cañal, College of Education Extension Coordinator, said that to achieve 30% of the households to practice proper segregation at source and to reduce waste at the barangay level to 50% of the total wastes being disposed to dumpsites in all 21 barangays in the municipality, the university must take active participation, thus, the partnership signing.
