Representing Samar State University (SSU), Mr. Leandro Crebello and Mr. Jedd Ebalde of the College of Industrial Technology, and Engr. Meddy Mangaring and Engr. Joshua Perante of the College of Engineering attended the EcoMobility World Festival 2017 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan last October 2-4.

Livable. Shared. Intelligent.

The three words making up the congress’ theme and which the SSU representatives learned about during the World Festival participated by over 1200 participants from fifty cities globally.  The four instructors were exposed to the best practices on overcoming the traffic congestion in urban places as shared by different participating cities.

With the speakers emphasizing “ecomobility” as walking and cycling, during the congress “Livable” is ascribed to a city that is “accessible, walkable, safe, and affordable with a network of quality public places.”  The congress showcased dioramas of “livable cities” that presented better infrastructure and landscape.

On the “Shared” part of the theme, SSU gained “shared” principles on ecomobility through sessions and discussions, from which “right market conditions and operational framework” were being highlighted.

Aside from obtaining insights during the parallel sessions and exhibitions, SSU was able to try the different “Intelligent” technologies exhibited during the congress such as the stationary bicycle that charges a cellphone, hoverboard, and unicylce.
