CATBALOGAN CITY –In collaboration with Philippine Red Cross – Catbalogan City, Western Samar Chapter, Catbalogan City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office, and Red Cross Youth- SSU Council, Samar State University (SSU) strengthened its disaster preparedness strategies as it hosted the “Comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning Workshop, Contingency Planning and Capacity Building” on February 27-28 (23) at the SSU Convention Center.
Aimed to educate the participants on the scope of disaster preparedness strategy and associated aspects, and to develop a locally appropriate and locally owned strategy for disaster preparedness and risk reduction, eighty-five (85) teaching and non-teaching personnel of the University were invited to the workshop.
The Philippine Red Cross – Catbalogan City, Western Samar Chapter, and Catbalogan City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office served as Resource Speakers while the Red Cross Youth- SSU Council provided assistance and support serving as facilitators.
Following the success of the workshop, the university expects to deliver a swift and apt response to any future disaster.
