CATBALOGAN CITY—After winning the crown of Mr. and 1st Runner-Up Ms. Samar State University (SSU) 2022, Jazztin Antonii A. Acedillo and Rejhel Anne G. Memoracion, bagged yet another and this time in the national level—the Mr. and Ms. Green Philippines 2023 held on March 3 (23) in Baguio City.
The two representatives of the University are now Green Ambassadors as they joined the 5th National Youth Environmental Summit with the theme “Youth climate action towards building sustainable, peaceful, and resilient schools and communities” together with their coach, Ms. Angelyn B. Machate.
Organized by Green Philippines, DENR Climate Change Service, Zero Waste-Baguio, and Benguet State University as endorsed by CHED, NYC-YORP, and League of Cities, the pageant was one of the activities of the summit aimed to share the best practices for greening campuses, learn from professionals, environmentalists, policymakers, and administrators, and develop communication skills to become Green Ambassadors who will take action plans to improve the greening of respective schools and assist communities to become disaster and climate resilient—a shared goal of SSU.
Other winners include Mr. & Ms. Green Philippines (Luzon) from LGU Baguio and PATTS College of Aeronautics; Mr. & Ms. Green Philippines (Visayas) from University of Antique; and Mr. & Ms. Green Philippines (Mindanao) from Cotabato State University and Bukidnon State University.
