Call for papers for publication in the PCDRJ

The Philippine Countryside Development Research Journal (PCDRJ) is a peer-reviewed publication of Samar State University. Its peer reviewers come from various universities/institutions in the Philippines and from other countries. The journal publication is alligned to SSUs new vision; a university for social transformation. The countryside possesses unique characteristics which are vulnerable to the intrusion of 21st century technology. It has a unique culture, many of which are still vibrantly practiced but remains unknown to the world. It also is home of many natural wonders, rich biodiversity from the mountain to the reefs of the countryside. Many of its inaccessible/isolated communities are also home to many unique practices, languages and many more. More importantly, the countryside is home to the many marginalized communities, people needing help and care. All these needs to be shared to the world, not only for information sake but as a form of a call for help or support.

The electronic form of the PCDRJ shall be made available online before the end of this year. It shall publish at least one issue per year and later will be bi-annually. Authors are encourage to submit their articles not later than September to give ample time to the reviewers in time for the 2014 issue which will be published first week of December. For the first 5 years, authors will not be asked payment to defray cost of publication and maintenance of the online journal.

Types of papers encouraged to be submitted to PCDRJ could be a survey, review of books or papers, case studies, position papers or reports like technical reports, engineering reports with methods and conclusions. Specific areas includes; engineering, S&T driven community and regional development; science-based development project implementation; technology impact assessment/evaluation; socio-economic condition (health, well-being, quality of life, sustainability) as impact of implemented science-based solutions; gender issues involved in scientific inquiries and development; education, socio-cultural studies related to countryside development; technology development in support of MSMEs; and engineering and technology solutions to the countryside.
