Sagwan integrates GAD in engineering Internship Orientation

Catbalogan City, Samar — Gender and Development (GAD) principles were incorporated into the College of Engineering’s Internship Orientation Seminar on April 22, 2026, as part of Samar State University’s commitment to inclusive and socially responsive education. The session was facilitated by the Samar State University’s Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development (SAGWAN), with Director Ms. Charmaine R. Quiña leading the discussion on Basic GAD Concepts and Sexual Harassment Prevention. The activity provided engineering students with essential awareness on gender sensitivity, professional conduct, and the importance of maintaining safe and respectful workplaces during their internship. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality), the initiative reinforced the role of students as future professionals who uphold dignity, equality, and accountability in their respective fields. By integrating GAD into the orientation program, the university continues to ensure that students are not only technically prepared but also equipped with the values necessary to contribute to inclusive and equitable development.
