HANOI, Vietnam—Samar State University (SSU) was a proud official delegate to the 13th Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) Board Meeting 2025, held on October 31, 2025, at Phenikaa University, Hanoi, Vietnam.
The annual meeting gathered heads and presidents of ATU-Net’s 50 member institutions from 13 countries across Asia. Representing SSU was Dr. Elmer Irene, Director for International Affairs, who attended as the University’s official delegate. The visit was composed of a campus tour of Phenikaa University, a city tour where the delegates visited the silk industry of Hanoi, and the board meeting.
The Board Meeting, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohd Shafry bin Mohd Rahim, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, highlighted the network’s 2025 achievements, financial report, and the 2026 strategic plan and budget proposal. It also featured the ATU-Net Consortium Collaboration Agreement Exchange Ceremony that symbolized continued partnership and expansion among its member institutions.
Since joining the network in 2022, SSU has been an active and engaged member of ATU-Net, participating in research collaborations, academic exchanges, and international confabs. Through these efforts, the University continues to pursue global visibility, enhance staff and faculty mobility, and build networks for future funding and partnerships.
As an active member institution, SSU benefits from ATU-Net’s supported programs and undertakings, which include annual conferences, personnel mobility opportunities, and other international gatherings, and access to exclusive calls and funding support. This means that SSU researchers and faculty members who wish to participate in ATU-Net–organized or –endorsed events may enjoy membership privileges or other participation perks extended through the University’s affiliation with the network.
ATU-Net, founded in 2016 and headquartered at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, aims to foster collaboration among technological universities in Asia to advance education, research, and innovation. SSU’s sustained involvement in the organization reinforces its commitment to becoming a globally competitive university—one that bridges local expertise and international collaboration for sustainable development.
