CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – The Samar State University (SSU) community marked the beginning of its months-long Christmas celebration today, November 7, through its annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony held at the SSU Convention Center and Biowall. For this year, the ceremonial lighting was themed “Pagpasalamat, Paglaom ug Paglamrag.”
The celebration began with the First Friday Mass, followed by symbolic offerings and ceremonies led by university officials. Dr. Gina U. España, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Engr. Mirador G. Labrador, Vice President for Research and Extension, led the Offering of Flowers; while the Offering of Candles were led by Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante, Vice President for Administration and Finance.
University President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia led the Laying of the Child Jesus, alongside the blessing of the Belen. The evening culminated with the much-awaited ceremonial lighting of Christmas decors that symbolized gratitude, hope, and brilliance as the SSU community welcomes the spirit of Christmas.
