SSU takes part in Catbalogan SK’s CBYDP, ABYIP formulation workshop

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — Samar State University (SSU), through the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG), takes part in the Catbalogan City LGU’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Comprehensive Barangay Youth Development Plan (CBYDP) and Annual Barangay Youth Investment Program (ABYIP) Formulation Workshop held at the SSU Convention Center on Tuesday, April 23, and slated to end today, April 24, 2024.

The workshop seeks to empower the youth council of Catbalogan, Samar, and render CBDYP and ABYIP outputs by the end of the two-day training. 76 SK Chairpersons and Secretaries from various barangays of Catbalogan are currently participating in the said training. The first day covers significant discussions on Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP), local situationer and city response, investment planning on the crafting of CBYDP and ABYIP, and various planning exercises.

Meanwhile, the second day expects SK officials to craft and present their respective CBDYP and ABYIP outputs which will be critiqued by a panel of experts from SSU, Catbalogan City Population and Youth Development Office, National Youth Commission, Department of Interior and Local Government, and youth leaders’ sector.

Joined by esteemed national Resource Speakers namely: Sydney Joseph L. Torrenueva, Presidential Staff Officer at the Regional Youth Development Division (National Youth Commission); Atty. Roldan John P. Larios, Catbalogan City Population and Youth Development Officer; EnP. Cliford M. Natividad, SK Secretariat of the National Youth Commission; and Emee Lei E. Albaño Valdehuesa, Adolescent Development Specialist of UNICEF Philippines. The extension activity is actively supported by SSU’s SICGLG, steered by Extension Program Team Leader, Mr. Alfonso Alex Labrague.
