CATBALOGAN CITY─ To kick off another year of productive convergence and collaborations, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Samar and the Samar State University – Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance successfully held the Samar Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Council for the Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC) Meeting and Re-Orientation on August 22 (23) at the SSU Board Room.
Ms. Geselle P. Endriano, the Assistant Division Chief, LGCDO, DILG RO8, delivered a talk entitled “Knowledge Management in Local Governance through the LGRRC”, emphasizing the role of the learning resource center and how it can better promote a collaborative engagement and synergy among key players in the community.
Present during the significant occasion were Cluster Head of DILG Samar, Mr. Fortunato Lagarde, duly representing the Provincial Director, Dir. Judy L. Batulan; University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, and; SSU-SICGLG Director, Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing; and other member-stakeholders including the national government agencies, civil society organizations, league leaders among others.
Another highlight of the activity was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between DILG Samar and SSU-SICGLG relative to the need to foster capacity development among officials and functionaries of the local government units (LGUs).
The activity concluded with a powerful message from Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso “to courageously dream big for Samar and an ardent commitment for the attainment of the provincial development goals through SSU’s research and extension undertakings.
