Samar State University Hosts Regional Gender and Development Committee Meeting

CATBALOGAN CITY─ In a bid to promote gender equality and empower women, Samar State University played a key role in hosting the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) Meeting on June 21 (23) at the Convention Center.

Aimed to foster a conducive environment for dialogue, ultimately leading to the formulation of effective policies and interventions at the regional level, the event gathered in members of the RGADC including its Chairperson DTI Regional Director Celerina T. Bato and various stakeholders from the academe, civil society, government agencies, and non-government organizations to discuss key issues, share best practices, and devise strategies for advancing gender and development initiatives.

In her opening remarks, SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso expressed her enthusiasm for hosting the event, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive environment for all. She emphasized the need for sustained collaborative efforts to address gender disparities and emphasized the role of education in fostering a more equitable society.

“The university is ensuring that holistic and transformative education is fostered…Gender equality is a key to overcoming the structural barriers. When everyone is empowered, when everyone is valued, when everyone is transformed, we build a strongly rooted, comfortable, and secure Philippines,” stated Dr. Cardoso in her Welcome Message.

With this hosting, the University feels honored to be championing gender equality, serving as a catalyst for positive change, and contributing to creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
