SSU, Tra Vinh University Officials come together to strengthen academic exchange, promote sustainable development

CATBALOGAN CITY – To cultivate their partnership and collaboration, Samar State University (SSU) and Tra Vinh University (TVU) officials came together in a meeting yesterday, March 27 (23).

Visitors from TVU include International Education Institute Director Dr. Phung Van De, Center of Learning Resources and Innovation Director Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy, International Collaboration Office Head Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Khanh, International Collaboration Office Vice Head Dr. Chau Thi Hoang Hoa, and the TVU Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung serving as the head of delegation.

Welcoming TVU’s officials were University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, the four Vice Presidents, College Deans, and the Director of the Office of International Affairs Dr. Elmer A. Irene.

As a highlight of the event, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed cementing the partnership for the International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON) and faculty exchange programs.

A tree planting ceremony was also held to promote sustainability and environmental awareness.

And to conclude the visit, a lecture on language testing and evaluation was provided by Dr. Phung to SSU language teachers and Master of Arts in Education – English Language Teaching students from Samar College, Saint Mary’s College of Catbalogan, Samar National School, and Samar Division.

The meeting proves to be an overwhelming success as doors were opened for collaborations and initiatives that will benefit both universities.
