




TACLOBAN CITY— Through the mentorship of the Aptissimi Development Innovations, Inc. Samar State University (SSU) together with Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) complete course on Capacity Building for University Futures and Foresight on January 25-27 (23), at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City.
The course covers two (2) modules including Foresight-Insight-Action to enhance skills in Foresight and Futures Thinking; and Scenario and Strategy Development.
With lectures, case studies, and facilitated workshops, 60 participants from both State Universities actively engaged in the course that covers topics on Environmental Scanning, Backcasting, and Moonshots.
Serving as Resource Speakers were Ms. Ma. Christine F. Reyes, Mr. Joseph Reylan Viray, Ms. Kriztine Viray, Ms. Jalaine Malabanan, and PhilFutures Director for Strategic Partnerships and Networking and Resident Futurist of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking Mr. Noel de Guia.
Also present from ADII were coach Mr. Raul Roldan and facilitator Ms. Aimee Pagdanganan.
The training was also graced by a champion on Futures Thinking, Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag, PhD, CHRP, RMT, RN who delivered a message on Day 3.
As the Higher Education Institutions invest on Futures Thinking, a multidisciplinary technique to thinking about possible futures through the investigation of trends and change-drivers to properly make judgments and take actions in the present, SSU with its torch bearer Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso and BiPSU headed by Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. commit to critically evaluate the future rather than attempt to foresee it as seen in the attendees’ participation and presentation of workshop outputs.
