SSU ends the year with an Energy Efficiency Excellence Award

CATBALOGAN CITY—Because of Samar State University’s sustainability programs along energy conservation such as the retrofitting of buildings and installation of solar panels as an alternative source of power and the use of LED lights which resulted to reduced electrical consumption, the University is one of the two recipient SUCs of the Energy Efficiency Excellence Award on December 21 (22) at the Marquis Events Place, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Organized by the Department of Energy, the awarding ceremony is an annual event to honor outstanding accomplishments and best practices in the implementation of Energy, Efficiency, and Conservation in various buildings, companies, groups, and government institutions. The EEE Award seeks to implement new energy management ideas into laws, guidelines, and initiatives while promoting excellent energy management systems in all buildings, including local and governmental facilities.

“My Congratulations, gratitude, and accolade to the entire SSU academic community (Board of Regents, faculty and personnel, students, alumni, and partners) for making this happen. Year 2022 is indeed bountiful! SSU is ‘Triumphing Excellence, Progressing Service’. Thank you Department of Energy for this inspiring recognition,” President Marilyn D. Cardoso stated in a post.

The University has been championing an earth friendly environment through the espousal of the 5 Rs  (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle) of Waste Management and the guidance of its Green University Road Map. And as SSU lives up to the award and continues to envision a smart, healthy, and green University, it shall continue the adoption of energy efficient lighting and cooling appliances through an established renewable energy systems and conservation measures.
