OIAS conducted Writeshop for Respective Offices and Organizations’ Webpage

The Office International Affair and Services (OIAS) conducted an exclusive seminar-workshop for respective Offices and Organizations’ Webpage at the New CAS Audio-Visual Center (AVC) on December 21, 2022. This activity, first ever to be held after the pandemic.

The activity aims to nurture the student leaders’ understanding towards the diverse roles of every staff in the organization, and to commit them to their duties and responsibilities to the technological development of the media. It focuses on the different fields of campus journalism: news writing, feature writing, and the development of website pages which are vital to the students’ upcoming semestral release on December 2022.

Office of the Public Information Officer, Ms. Arianne Rose Salcedo, discussed the basics of news writing and techniques in writing compelling headlines and lead. Ms. Jessa Pacoma, former Feature Editor, tackled the effective ways of feature writing through factual evidence and opinion based structure. She also emphasized the importance of being light and considering mistakes in drafting since it’s a part of the process.

On the later part, Mr. Zaldy Jabiñar, gave a talk with regards to Webpage Management and how important this is for the collaborative and structured page the campus can provide. He then presented some of his works and samples and gave instructions to the students to come up with the same result.

Lastly, students from the various organizations were given a time to lay a webpage along with their articles to be posted as part of the compliance for this year’s assessment.
