Cultural Show 2022: Bachelor Of Physical Education

The 2nd year of Bachelor of Physical Education’s Final Term Requirement in their subject PED 4 (The Philippine
Traditional Dance) handled by Dr. Madelynn Reposo, was to recreate or replicate a dance from Ethnic Groups which is the Cordillera Dance, a dance that continues to be be an expression of community life that animates the various rituals and ceremonies. They dance to appease their ancestors and gods to cure illness, to ensure success at war, or to ward off bad luck or natural calamities.

With this requirement, the students from the 2nd year of Bachelor of Physical Education was exempted, meaning they no longer have take the Final Examination in 1st Semester regarding this subject.

The dances performed by the students are stated below:

  • Salidumay – is a folk song genre of the northern Philippine highlands. It is often used as
    identity symbol of the indigenous peoples of the region and projected as their traditional music.
  • Manmanok -is a courtship dance from the Bago tribe and it was originated from the province in llocos Norte. This usually dance during the wedding ceremony
    This dramatizes the dance that depicts the three roosters and the hen.
  • Uyauy – The Uya-uy is an Ifugao wedding festival dance performed to the beat of gongs. It is usually performed
    by the affluent people. Those who have performed this dance are entitled to the use of gongs at their death.

This was held at the College of Education Building, 4th Floor, Function Room.
