CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) November 2022 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) fourth placer Ms. Lorelie Charresse Pomentil shared that her board review and examination ‘always felt orchestrated by God’.

“I was well provided in every aspect by His grace and providence. None of this was ever possible without God’s grace and favor,” said Ms. Pomentil, who made record as the first Nursing graduate who topped the board.

Twenty-two-year-old Pomentil, who started doing self-review a year before her exam, said that she took consideration the most important and most difficult nursing concepts.

“I focused first on understanding, and later on mastery of those concepts. I dedicated my first months of review on Medical Surgical (MS) then I started joining an online review, focusing on other subjects,” she stated.

She garnered an average rating of 89.40 and was hailed as 4th Placer among 24,903 exam takers which paved way to different offers from hospitals in Cebu and Manila, but she is still deciding where to work.

Pomentil emphasized the help of her mentors in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) who ‘made sure to engrave in our hearts to love nursing with its accompanying difficulties’.

“As early as it was, I had a taste of how difficult board exam could be as our exams and quizzes in COHNS were always challenging. College of Nursing and our Clinical instructors honed us to become board passers and as in my case, a board topnotcher. I have so much gratitude as well to our College Dean, Dr. Dolores P. Arteche. She was very supportive throughout our review, always inquiring how our review was going, making sure we had the requirements we needed to apply for PRC, and continually reassuring us that we will pass and make it. It was such a great encouragement to know that our College Dean believes in us and our capabilities,” she stated.

The university’s entire batch of November 2022 NLE first-time takers passed the exam.
