CATBALOGAN CITY─ Samar State University Varsity Team proved to have an exceptional dunking prowess as they slam the 1st Inter-University Basketball Tournament held at Biliran Province State University, Naval Biliran on August 27-29 (22) hailing them as winner in the championship game.
With no losses during the round robin against the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), and Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) respectively, SSU made a clean sweep until the championship.
Marking as first in SSU athletics history, the crown made all personnel-delegates proud including the Team Coach Mr. Leandro S. Crebello, Sr., Asst. Coach Raul B. Celmar, Sports Director Dr. Randy E. Pacadaljen, and Document Officer Mr. Antonieto B. Betanzor.
Scoring 74 points against SLSU’s 44, SSU players Joseph Anthony Arellano, Kenneth Babalcon, Kenneth Ballena, Dixter Basilan, Ryan Millen Borja, Junil Bulan, Jayson Cadiong, Benedicto Isola, Mark Jemar Latoja, Ric Janri Rodriguez, Philip Solayao, Khian Radaza, Albert Jushua Tolipas, and Team Capt. Rogelio Tolipas just found themselves victorious.
“Thank you for all the support SSU,” expressed Mr. Latoja, one of the basketball players.
With this winning, SSU will continue dribbling in sports ‘til the next ball game.
