SSU is the only HEI 2022 Gawad Yamang Isip Awardee

CATBALOGAN CITY─ Samar State University Technology Business Incubator Local Alliance of Marine-Based Businesses and Food Technology (SSU TBI-LAMBAT) coveted the most prestigious award by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during the agency’s Gawad Yamang Isip Awards and Stakeholder’s Night titled IPOPHL Rising at 25: Creating a Sliver-Bright Future on June 6 (2022) at the Jose Rizal Hall, Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, Manila.

Among the seven (7) awardees for the 2022 Gawad Yamang Isip Award, an award given to individuals and institutions that have significantly contributed to the improvement of the Filipinos’ quality of life through their intellectual property’, SSU was the only Higher Education Institution (HEI) receiving the accolade along Pangangasiwa sa Yamang Isip making it a recipient of a trophy sculpted by the renowned visual artist, Mr. Abdulmari “Toym” de Leon Imao, Jr. Adding to this award is the Special Citations 2022 as 3rd Top ITSO Filer for having the third highest combined filings of patents, utility models, industrial design, and trademarks from 2016-2021.

The University‘s TBI-LAMBAT is the first technology business incubator in Region 8, assisting aspiring entrepreneurs with the formation and construction of startup businesses based on established business models that fulfill social and market demands while just recently its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) secured two platinum awards for having drafted and filed seven (7) invention patents and successfully commercializing Utility Model from 2020-2021.
