SSU is back-to-back ITSO Cluster Awardee for year 2021

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) secured the Platinum Award for second straight year by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during its 2021 Cluster Awards on April 18, 2022. The award is based on the Clustering Scheme of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) 2.0 program.

Having drafted and filed seven (7) invention patents and successfully commercializing Utility Model titled “The Process of Making Anti-Bacterial Soap from Christella sp. Extract (Fern Soap)” through a Licensing Agreement with OI Naturals, the University met the requirements for the PLATINUM cluster award.

Aside from receiving the Platinum Award, the highest recognition given by IPOPHIL for ITSOs that have developed expertise overtime, the University was also awarded with all three other clusters such as the Bronze, Silver and Gold as it meets all the requirements for each category.

The University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso congratulated the SSU-Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO) Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya and her team for its success.
