SSU-STCBF Team tapped for SNS’ YES-O

CATBALOGAN CITY – The S&T Community-Based Farm (STCBF) on Sweet Potato Production implemented by Samar State University (SSU) and funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was requested by the Youth for Environment in School Organization (YES-O) of Samar National School (SNS) on October 20 (21).

YES-O aims to inculcate in minds the young people’s vital role in caring for the environment and for this year, SNS targeted the planting of sweet potato in the school.

SSU-STCBF Project Leader, Dr. Marife M. Lacaba, and her team members, Ms. Renalyn Villanueva, Mr. Ryan Cabrillas and Mrs. Nelinda Tan assisted thirty-three (33) students and advisers on the implementation of “KAMOTE SA PAARALAN: A YES-O PROJECT”.

The team trained the YES-O members on the scientific ways of preparing the land and cleaning the planting materials for sweet potato planting by following the accurate length through stem cutting system, ridges making, and exact depth planting.

SNS faculty with gratitude concluded the activity through an awarding program for the SSU-STCBF team.
