Dr. Cardoso Chairs SDGs TWG on Social Sector

The Regional Development Council of the Eastern Visayas- Social Development Committee (RDC VIII-SDC) endorsed Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso as the Chairperson of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Technical Working Group (TWG) on Social Sector. The composition of this special committee was confirmed through Resolution No. 48 s. 2020 during the 4th Quarter 2020 meeting of the RDC VIII-SDC.

Members of this committee include the Regional Director of the Department of Education VIII as the Co-Chairperson, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Tacloban, Commission on Higher Education VIII, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau VIII, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Health VIII, Department of Science and Technology VIII, Department of Social Welfare and Development VIII, National Economic and Development Authority VIII, National Nutrition Council VIII, National Maritime Polytechnic Tacloban, National Youth Commission Visayas, Philippine Commission on Women, PhilHealth VIII, Commission on Population  VIII, State Universities and Colleges, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority VIII, Department of Interior and Local Government VIII, all provinces in the region, Tacloban City, Ormoc City, and RDC VIII-Private Sector Representatives for Labor, Special Concerns, Youth and Children, Women and Academe, and Science and Technology.

“I am humbled by the nomination yet enthusiastic to collaborate with partner agencies both public and private to come up with integrative action plans and strategies aiming at improving health and education, alleviating poverty, reducing inequality, accelerating economy, and sustaining safe and balanced environment for all.”, articulated Dr. Cardoso.

Samar State University’s initiatives directed to respond to SDGs like the annual Poverty Conference (POVCON) and the once in two years International Poverty Conference (iPOVCON) mark the University’s ingenuous effort and continual commitment to contribute to a shared goal of peace and prosperity for all people and this planet at present and beyond.
