SSU IT Instructors spearhead Moodle, G Suite Workshop

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University Information Technology Instructors, on Thursday, June 25, 2020 spearheaded Training-Workshop on Moodle, Faculty, and Students Accounts Creation on G Suite during the second day of the University’s Trainer’s/Faculty In-House Training at the SSU Convention Center.

“Moodle and G Suite will help the faculty and students to be digitally ready and fully capacitate in technology as the university builds partnership with Google for G Suite Education plan,” Mr. Nathaniel Guio A. Mendoza, IT Instructor said.

He cited some of the advantages of G Suite as it has unlimited storage and account administration over the normal Gmail account. The disadvantages centered on the poor internet connectivity and scarcity of gadgets among students and faculty for educational activities.

The said training-workshop focused on Moodle as the number one open-source software for LMS. It has currently 200 million users across institutions in the world and expected to increase because of the pandemic, he shared.

“Whereas, G Suite has 80 million users and projected to surpass Moodle for more than 190 million users,” he added.

Mr. Zaldy A. Jabinar, ICT Director, presented the application of Moodle and highlighted some of its relevant aspects, such as grade book, a question bank, import and export features of subjects, and setup of course outline for activity and resources.

The second day of training-workshop centered on the faculty’s utilization of Moodle and the clerks’ concerns about the User Management of G Suite for Education of faculty and students.
