SSU to establish SSU-LGU Academic Link, consults Barangay Officials

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) recognizes the need to collaborate with the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the delivery of higher education services following the New Normal Academic Plans and Programs for SY 2020-2021.

Amidst the threat of the pandemic, the University planned ways to continue providing advanced instruction and professional training to the students while making their health safety an utmost priority.

With this in mind, SSU will be establishing an academic resource center called as SSU LGU Academic Link/Kiosk to serve as venue for the SSU and other SUCs students from the LGU as repository of their study materials such as modules, books, videos, etc.

On May 27, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, initiated a Consultative Meeting with the Barangay Captains and Officials regarding the partnership.

Dr. Gomba shared the features of the agreement and provided the barangay officials an overview of their roles and responsibilities.

The LGUs shall provide a secured space for the Kiosk and allow students to access the LGU free WIFI. They shall also ensure that the necessary guidelines by the IAFT (COVID 19 National and Local Committees) are properly and strictly followed.

Dr. Nathalie Ann Alaga and Dr. Florabelle B. Patosa were also present during the meeting.
