SSU BANTAY COVID-19: SSU sets preventive measures on COVID-19

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University routed an Office Memorandum on March 11 stating the immediate actions to be implemented in the University pertaining to the preventive measures on COVID-19.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 922 (Declaring a State of Public Health Emergency) issued by the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, complemented by Executive Order No. 03-006, series 2020 issued by Hon. Dexter M. Uy, City Mayor, the University spreads awareness on the following actions to be followed:

  1. All incoming personnel from international travels are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. They shall be monitored by the Catbalogan City Health Office (CCHO) surveillance team.
  2. Personnel/students coming from regions/areas, countries or territories with confirmed cases of COVID-19 shall be referred to CCHO for monitoring and management.
  3. Local/regional/national travels shall be limited to those that are extremely important.
  4. All travels (overseas and regions/areas, countries or territories with confirmed cases of COVID-19 personal or official) shall be temporarily suspended.
  5. The use of fingerprint biometrics shall be temporarily suspended. Punctuality and attendance are to be strictly monitored by the immediate supervisor.
  6. There will be no flag raising ceremony until further notice. Instead the singing of the Philippine National Anthem shall be done during the first period classes every Monday in their respective classroom.
  7. Use of University facilities for huge gatherings shall be deferred.
  8. Gatherings involving participants coming from other areas/regions with confirmed cases of COVID-19 shall not be allowed.
  9. University personnel and students who are in food services and/or preparing food items unit shall wear mask or mouth pieces.
  10. Medic station complete with sanitation facilities shall be made available near the entrance of the University campus/college/department.
  11. All OJT students assigned in areas/regions, countries or territories with confirmed cases of COVID-19 shall be recalled, OJT coordinators shall provide alternate/substitute student engagements to complete the required number of hours. Interns who choose to stay should sign a waiver.
  12. All nursing/pharmacy students on clinical and community duty shall be recalled. Clinical instructors shall provide alternate/substitute student engagement.
  13. NSTP students shall conduct their activities/classes within the University premises.
  14. Students who are sick shall not report to work and shall inform their immediate supervisors. Construction workers shall be closely monitored by their company supervisor and shall not be allowed to report when sick.

  16. Nearby/Dormitory residents/passersby shall be closely monitored by the security personnel and shall not be allowed inside the University/campus premises when sick.
  17. Thermal scanners and other medical supplies and equipment shall be immediately procured by the Supply and Procurement Office.
  18. All security personnel should report to their post and ensure implementation of theses SSU Bantay COVID-19 measures.
  19. All SSU Emergency Response Team are on call 24/7.
