Samar State University’s 15th Charter Day Celebration was made ravishing and momentous as the different colleges and external campuses showcased cultural dances from the varying regions of the Philippines; altogether depicting the theme of the celebration “Fostering Filipino Culture geared towards globally competitive SSU “.
The event kicked off by an amusing opening salvo performed by the students of the host, College of Arts and Sciences, where they exhibited Region 8, Catbalogan’s pride and culture, the Manaragat Festival.
This was followed by the competition proper, wherein the first performance coming from the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) representing the Central Luzon region set pressure to the other contingents, as they hyped the vibe of the atmosphere.
The next performance was staged by the College of Education (COEd) baring the culture of the Northern Mindanao region, followed by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) showcasing the extravagant joviality of the Mimaropa region, succeeded by the College of Engineering’s (COEng) festive presentation for the Northern Tagalog region, then the SSU Paranas Campus comes after flaunting the cultural dance of the Zamboanga region, and last but definitely not the least, the Basey Campus showing off the feastivity of the Cagayan Valley region.
Among all these astonishing presentations, COEd proved their dominance in terms of cultural facet as they bagged first place on the cultural dance competition, followed by the SSU Basey campus as the 2nd placer, and the CONHS owning the 3rd place.
Along with this is the awarding of the minor award for the Most Eye-catching Headdress among the different colleges and external campuses correlating the designs to their respective regions.

This year’s Charter celebration is a visionary milestone; the talents exhibited is an indelible experience that is a portion of the definition of culture. Surely, SSU’s desire of fully embracing our cultural heritage can push through beyond horizons globally.
