Catbalogan City – As part of the annual undertakings of the university in exercising the culture of revering excellence, Samar State University (SSU) venerated the outstanding students for the school year 2018-2019 during the 84th Recognition Day held on May 28, 2019 at the SSU Gymnasium.
With this year’s theme, “Leadership, Excellence, Discipline and Service: Key to a Sustainable Globally Competitive Graduates”, the recognition day was graced by Engr. Marichu C. Gonzales, Guest Speaker, who emphasized ‘being thankful at all times’ as she shared her journey towards success.
“My journey was never easy. I have to endure the days having nothing and I don’t want to tell my parents what I was going through in Taiwan. I have made a promise to myself that I will not go home without making them proud,” she said.
As she ended her talk, she encouraged the students to have faith in God, her ‘secret ingredient’ in achieving her dreams.
The University acknowledge the awardees in scholastic excellence, presidential research awards, extra-curricular awards, and presidential awards of the different colleges and external campuses.
