SSU explores ‘wonders in numbers’ as Stat Month kicks off

SSU, Catbalogan City – With the theme ‘Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development’, the 29th National Statistics Month (NSM) was celebrated by the university starting with a kick-off activity last October 1.

“The entire Philippine nation will once again celebrate the National Statistics Month for the entire month of October. In relation to this, Samar State University will actively participate on the said activity and will join the Catbalogan Statistics Community in holding various activities spearheaded by the Statistics Society,” said the adviser of the Statistic Society, Emma Tenedero.

The celebration brought together different departments, bureaus, offices, and instrumentalities of the national government as per Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Memorandum Circular No. 01-18.

During the kick-off day, the NSM Statistical Exhibit and Tourism Fair was done followed with the Hanoi of Tower contest and the Statistics Quiz Bee joined by the students of the university.

“The NSM is aimed to promote nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society,” said Tenedero, explaining the reasons for holding the event.

Activities for the NSM will continue until the end of October.
