Catbalogan City – “Let us choose to serve the country first before we serve the world,” emphasized Atty. Ryan L. Estevez, the commencement speaker of the two-day 83rd Commencement Exercises and Investiture Ceremonies of Samar State University (SSU) at the newly-renovated SSU Gymnasium last March 20-21.

“As we move towards ASEAN integration and globalization, let our esteemed graduates be the beacon of light that shines through the age of cultural homogeneity of the society, showing the world the uniqueness and ingenuity there is in being a Filipino,” said the Undersecretary for the House of Representatives, Presidential Legislative Liaison Office under the Office of the President.

In his speech, he further stated that the graduates must take pride of being Filipinos and show the world, through innovation, building and service, that Filipinos can make a mark and difference wherever the tides and waves of life may bring them.

“We should be able to fight and show the world that never will the Filipinos be looked down upon and instead be leading figures in community because we have the heart, the courage and the intelligence above the rest,” Atty. Estevez expressed.

He also assured that the government believes that the Filipino youth will be great again.

“Let us make the word ‘Filipino’ synonymous with dignity, great heart and compassionate service,” he said, encouraging the 1763 graduates of Class 2018 from the different SSU colleges and campuses.
