DBM RO8 experts visit SSU, tackle R.A. 9184

Samar State University, Catbalogan City – Department of Budget Management (DBM) Regional Office VIII Dir. Imelda C. Laceras, together with the Chief Budget Management (BM) Specialist Florita M. Lacdo-o and BM Specialist Mr. Absal N. Abah, talked on R.A. 9184 or the “Government Procurement Act” today for a two-day seminar on the said act, held at the AVC

Realizing the need for a technical working group (TWG) of the procuring entity to have a thorough discussion on R.A. 9184 and its revised implementing rules and regulations, the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, invited the university’s vice-presidents, deans and campus directors, chief administrative officers, directors, associate deans and unit heads.

The resource speaker said that training on R.A. 9184 is a pre-requisite to TWG membership pursuant to Government Procurement Policy Board’s (GPPCB) mandate under Bids and Awards Committees (BACs), BAC Secretariats, TWGs, and the Procurement Units of Procuring Entities; and professionalize the same.

“You see, we are discovering something para mapadali ang work natin (to expedite our work),” Mr. Abah said as he discussed the Procurement Planning and Budgeting Module.

On an interview with the supply officer from SSU-Mercedes Campus, she said that this seminar will help her a lot to minimize the challenges faced by their unit. She also commended the university for inviting people from the regional office for a more in-depth discussion.

The seminar will continue until tomorrow, January 26, for the orientation on the recent alternative modes of procurement, procurement of goods and infrastructures, bidder’s administrative remedies and the legal indemnification package.
