March 13 (17) marked the start of the Stage 2 of the ISO 9001:2008 certification of Samar State University. An opening meeting was held at ten o’clock this morning at the Audio-Visual Center. The highlight of the short meeting was the message of the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso. In her talk, Dr. Cardoso took the time to thank both the SSU team and the audit team for their hard work and commitment to excellence.
Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, introduced the audit team to the rest of the attendees and the SSU community. The ISO audit team is composed of Quinie Aguinaldo, the lead auditor, and the members of her team, Allan Carandang and Ella Ajero.
This phase of the ISO 9001:2008 certification will run for four days. After the meeting, the audit team proceeded to SSU, Paranas Campus. For Day Two, auditors will be visiting the SSU, Mercedes Campus before going back to the Main Campus for the third and fourth days of the survey audit.
The key areas for this audit are: Site Management, Student Development and Related Services (Guidance, Medical and Dental Security), Registrar/Admission, Library, Dorms, Scholarship/Budget Office/Cashier/Accounting, Administrative Office (Building Infrastructure, facilities and service vehicles), Supply Office/BAC/Procurement, Document and Records Control, Top Management, and HRMO.
The said external audit will conclude with a closing meeting on March 17, Friday at 5 PM.
