Internal Quality Audit held

As early as February 1-3 this year, Samar State University implemented a three-day Internal Quality Audit on its various colleges, campuses, offices, and units spearheaded by Dr. Lanie M. Pacadaljen, Director for Quality Assurance.

An opening meeting, conducted on the first day, highlighted the message of the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, on providing sustained quality services, and the presentation of audit scope, objective, and college/unit assignment by the team leader, Dr. Pacadaljen.

The audit activities started immediately after the kick-off meeting and went on until the third day. The auditing task force included Dr. Pacadaljen herself; Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, Vice-President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Esteban A. Malindog Jr., Personnel Association President and Focal Person for Quality Assurance in the College of Education; Dr. Alex A. Cardoso, QA Focal Person of the College of Industrial Technology; Prof. Nathalie Ann C. Alaga, QA Focal Person of the College of Arts and Sciences; Engr. Vincent D. Montano, QA Focal Person of the College of Engineering; Prof. Maricel M. Tizon, QA Focal Person of the College of Nursing and Health Services; Dr. Rodrigo G. Estrada, QA Focal Person of the College of Graduate Studies; Dr. Lourdes C. Delmonte, QA Focal Person of Paranas Campus; Dr. Lydia A. Gonzales, Chief Administrative Officer; Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante, Dean of the Students’ Development and Related Services; Mrs. Evelyn D. Abaigar, Human Resource Management Officer; Mrs. Florencia D. Lagria, Supply Management Officer; Mrs. Ma. Lourdes S. Sambalilo, Records Officer; Mrs. Imelda O. Velasco, University Registrar; Mrs. Virginia T. Orale, University Librarian; Mrs. Maxima M. Novilla, Administrative Officer V; Mrs. Anecita O. Banez, Administrative Officer V; Mrs. Arlene J. Tizon, Accountant III; Mrs. Maricar C. Cabael; Prof. Shirleen Grace A. Brillantes; and Mrs. Ma. Rizalina S. Bugaoisan.

A closing meeting was also carried out on the third day highlighting the message of the VPAA, Dr. Gomba, on the continuing goals of the university in sustaining quality assurance, and the presentation of findings from the three-day internal audit activities by Dr. Pacadaljen.

The objective of the recently concluded Internal Quality Audit is to ensure the effective implementation of the established Quality Management System and to determine its sustained effectiveness for future improvements. The IQA was held in congruence to the ISO 9001:2008, Stage-2 Preparation of this university.
