SSU joins 32nd Reg’l SCUAA Meet

Samar State University officials, coaches, athletes, and publication representatives joined the 32nd Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Meet, October 23-28 (16) at Naval State University (NSU), Naval, Biliran.

With the theme, “Go Higher… Faster… Stronger… SCUAA 8,” (the) 11 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Region VIII showed their prowess and enjoyed the opening program which started off with a parade around the town. Every university cheered and yelled at NSU Track Oval with their colorful banners and uniforms.

Different SUCs, key officials, athletes, Mr. and Ms. SCUAA 2016 candidates, and (the) distinguished university presidents of the region also attended the opening program.

“The unity and teamwork that surfaces from us today will serve as an inspiration… We are united as one in achieving a shared vision,” Dr. Matias Bentor, Naval State University OIC President stressed out in his speech during the event.

A traditional Chinese inspired dance was performed by the energetic freshmen and sophomore college students. Subsequently, the singing of this year’s SCUAA jingle, “Like the Tiger’s Eye,” the revealing of NSU’s Tiger Mascot, and a fireworks display highlighted the event.

The University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), NorthWest Samar State University (NwSSU), Leyte Normal Univeristy (LNU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Naval State University (NSU). Visayas State University (VSU), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), University of the Philippines (UP), and Samar State University (SSU) completed the poll of friendly contenders of the event.
