The accreditation of 13 programs for level 1 and two (2) programs for level 2 was concluded last August 21, 2015. The Deans of colleges felt relieved after a five day extensive evaluation of documents and are very hopeful that they will pass the said evaluation. There are more to work on based on the recommendations provided during the exit conference and the deans/campus directors committed to do its best to comply.
The university has undergone level 1 accreditation in the past and compared this year’s review as something more than before. This only means that the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) has levelled-up their way of evaluating.
On the other hand, Accreditation fever is not yet over as on the last week of September, a month after the conclusion of the Level 1 and Level 2 accreditation of 15 programs, another set of programs is to be subjected to Level 4 accreditation, the highest level AACCUP can give. College of Graduate Studies (CGS) will submit five (5) of its programs namely; PhD in Educational Management, PhD in Technology Management, Master of Public Management, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Teaching. College of Engineering(CoEng’g) will submit its BS Civil Engineering and BS Electrical Engineering. College of Education (CoEd) will submit its Bachelor of Secondary Education and the BS in Technician Education while the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) will submit its Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.
Level 4 standards are very high as it is compared to international standards. A handful programs all-over the Philippines have received the said award, many of those who submit awaits revisits. To receive level 4 accreditation, the program under survey must have an aggregated rating of at least 4.5 (perfect score is 5.0) and none in the ten (10) areas should have a rating lower than 4.0. The quality assurance head stressed that we should have been evaluated two years back but because of several events (i.e. typhoons/bad weather) and other concerns (i.e. unavailability of senior accreditors for level 4 evaluation), the said accreditation was rescheduled at least 3 times. Colleges now are busy updating their documents, and the level 1 and 2 accreditation activities this August served as a prelude to what will be a level 4 accreditation will be.
